The engineering firm Symbiosei has developed and continues to improve an original mathematical algorithm for accurate calculation of soil moisture. The solution is aimed at agricultural enterprises in specific climatic zones: foothills, arid steppes, and desert regions bordering the oceanic coast.

Technical features:

  • Accounting for hidden precipitation: Traditional weather stations only record direct precipitation (rain). Our algorithm calculates the volume of moisture entering the soil complex and the surface of plants through dew condensation and fog settling, which can constitute a significant part of the water balance in arid regions.
  • Irrigation optimization: Integrating the algorithm into automated irrigation systems allows for adjusting irrigation schedules based on the actual level of natural supplementary moisture. This prevents soil overhydration, reduces water pumping costs, and optimizes energy resource consumption.
  • Hardware independence: The algorithm operates locally and is adapted to process data from a wide range of commercial and open IoT sensors (temperature, air humidity, leaf surface temperature, atmospheric pressure).

Software environment and integration:

  • Automation platform: Full compatibility with open management systems (including the Home Assistant ecosystem) for flexible irrigation scenario configuration.
  • Local data processing: Mathematical calculations are performed directly on the local automation server (Edge Computing), eliminating dependence on the stability of external internet channels and third-party cloud providers.

Official project status and continuation of R&D

The developed algorithm for processing meteorological data and mathematical models for estimating moisture condensation are the result of original scientific research and experimental design developments by Symbiosei. The software code, weighting coefficients of formulas, and sensor noise filtering methods constitute the company's protected commercial know-how.

All expenses for mathematical modeling, programming, and algorithm verification in various geographical locations are officially accounted for as research and development (R&D) expenses in the company's balance sheet. Under the tax deduction program, Symbiosei continues R&D in this direction, conducting research on optimizing the calibration of measuring instruments and expanding climate scenario matrices for new types of landscapes. These expenses are taken into account when confirming the technological status of the enterprise.
